I would presume spacesuits have some sort of emergency locator radio beacon that will broadcast your position if you were in distress. Of course if you're trying to hide, you wouldn't switch it on, but you would if Marines had landed.
Switching on an emergency locator beacon before the marines get to your location (let alone find you) makes a LOT of sense. Taking the edge off any opportunity for surprise like that ... { significant look }
This is 100% true.
We make every pretense of competency around here.
I haven't yet worked out how to edit posts
If you're not a subscribed member, the edit window on posts is limited to 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, you cannot edit your own posts.

This is why whenever I have a long form multi-post detailed something or other to publish on these boards, I always work it up offline saved into a .rtf which I can then copy/paste into the forums in discrete chunks of text and use the Preview function for proofing and editing work (making sure all the links work, the text formatting is sane, tables and lists are opened and closed properly, etc.). I then save the results of those edits back into the offline file and just march my way through all of the necessary text (because, 10,000 character limit per post) to get everything formatted correctly and laid out ready for publication.

Only after I've got everything set and ready to go do I start publishing those long form topics (such as starship designs) that require multiple sequential posts to get everything published.

Downside to publishing 100,000+ words across 11-13 posts in a single thread all at once like that is that I rarely get much in the way of thread replies to those kinds of detailed info dumps. Usually, the only feedback I get is the occasional Like telling me that anyone aside from the web bots and lurkers crawling these forums have been reading what I wrote ... which is fine.

Magenta? I'm pretty sure that every reference I've seen to the Marines is that their most formal dress uniform colour is maroon (to match their sunburst), other uniforms being black.

Yes, Maroon Tunic/Jacket & Black Trousers for Formal Dress (Black Tunic/Jacket & Trousers for Standard Dress or "Undress"). Some Parade Dress uniforms also use Maroon Tunic/Jacket with White Trousers, IIRC. If you use any GURPS material at all, Parade Dress Maroon Tunic/Jacket can also be paired with a solid Black Kilt in appropriate gravity conditions.

Work Uniform ("Utilities") is a black tunic with grey pants and black tactical-style boots.

Magenta arises either from bad artwork or people who do not know what maroon is.

As we can only give one Emote to a Post, this part deserved a 'HaHa!' :ROFLMAO:

All the effort you put into your multi-posts is appreciated. The thing is, at least for me, there is usually so much information and explanation that I don't really feel the need to make a comment (except for rare situations), and if I felt I got something out of it or that you did an over the top job of posting, an Emote works just fine.

So I asked Google about maroon and magenta, and got a lot of answers, but the difference seems super small to me.

I can see there's a difference, but it doesn't seem large enough to have a discussion about?
That said, an armor liner seems more like Utilities than a dress uniform, and would likely be more like the utilities.

Make no mistake, I do appreciate these huge posts and the effort it takes, and that you put in to them.

I just...can't read them >.<.

But, please, keep going!

Still looking forward to the day when someone decides they want to launch a PbP on these forums and they want to use one of my merchant ship designs as the ACS for the story.

Yeah, I was kind of noticing with the SIE Big Clipper that there was ... A LOT ... of info and detail provided. That's why Post #13 of the SIE Big Clipper has a 😲 Table of Contents 😲 with links to individual posts for specific bits of detail.

Want just the backstory for the class that wraps around (before and after) the Third Frontier War? You want Posts #8 and #9 in the thread.
Want just the economic analysis? You want Posts #5 through #7.
Want a link back to my v2 Spinward Marches portolan chart of the sector (using a new world colors and name font scheme I invented)? That's Post #14 in the thread.
And so on and so forth ...

Not everyone is going to "need" all of the details that I've provided, but those details ought to be useful in different ways to different people who are interested in examining and making use of them. So picking and choosing what to pay attention to is perfectly valid (just like with reading CT LBBs). There's no need to read "cover to cover" in a single sitting, because what was written isn't a novel (per se) ... it's mostly reference with "adventure hooks" dangling here, there and everywhere for enterprising Referees to pick up and run with. ;)

This sounds entirely reasonable. I would presume spacesuits have some sort of emergency locator radio beacon that will broadcast your position if you were in distress. Of course if you're trying to hide, you wouldn't switch it on, but you would if Marines had landed.

This is 100% true.
If the mining corp wasn't strictly a "rip and run" operation, they might have spent cash on rescue balls or the like.
Those have rescue beacons which activate as soon as the bubble is lit up.

So, a hiding civilian could grab one of those and only activate it if they were aware rescue had arrived.

As for the body found under the floor in the shed, I don't see (from what I read) how the escapee could have known Marines arrived if they'd managed to survive.

Magenta also arises from someone having a brain fart, like I did :D

the answer is Maroon.....
Next, I'll take flying into a star for all the marbles, Alex...
