General Your Opinions on making wafers

Hi,

I've done some searches and perhaps missed what I was looking for so I figured I'd ask.

Especially thanks to Marc's "Agent of the Imperium", wafer tech has become huge.
I'm looking for costs and such for a system that makes wafers. Especially for cloning.

My thoughts are:
Obvious: a specialist type computer
1) Tech: No earlier than TL 13(LBB-tech scale), more likely at TL-14.

2) Size: It has to have a massive amount of storage to be used for cloning, so "lots" is
..............needed
.....based on today's news, where physicists from the University of Otago "held" an atom in
..............place to measure it
...So, smaller because of the reduction in cooling systems, etc..

3) Scanner tech:
...sub-atomic tracking required
...Clustered "reading" sensors required in large numbers

4) Cost: At east MCr 20

I'd add more but my thought process is stuck at the moment.

Thoughts?

Real world MRI scanners come in at $3,000,000 for top of the range machines. Within a decade or two they will have a resolution down to the molecular level.

Computer control and data storage for a few million more.

Since wafer tech appears at around TL13 then MCr20 is a sensible ball park estimate.
