Question about the Traveller TV series

Blue Ghost

SOC-14 5K
Knight
My main question is what age group will it be aimed at? Teenagers? Post-teen college age? All age groups? Teen and pre-teen?

Thanks much for any response.

[m;]Moved to Spinward Traveller forum, as is the proper place for TV Series too (see the explanation with the title)[/m;]

Might want to read around this forum for what happened with the show and other projects. It's apparently not a story with a happy ending.

Well, nevermind then. I saw this entry;

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4062534/?ref_=nm_flmg_dr_2

And I assumed the thing was still in the works. In fact I thought it was happening right now as we speak. The FAQ on the IMDB entry says release has been pushed to 2022? Interesting.

Okay, all my questions are answered. Thanks for the replies. And I had no idea that it had it's own section on the forum. Back to life.

There are no official answers available at this time. The last news from Marc was that Marc is working with Ken to get it finished.

[m;]Note that, per advice of counsel, direct accusations of criminality are "actions to the detriment" and ARE being deleted. Sorry, but those who want to complain such about Ken need to do so in other forums, not COTI.[/m;]

The project will need serious financing, and a professional cast and crew.

Then a platform to get access to the optimum number of the targetted demographic.

Maybe Netflix or Amazon.

I agree that the project needs serious financing. Brian Lewis plays the lead role of Jon Spinward. For me I think he is the perfect choice as he was excellent in The Gamers movies

No, nothing complex. Just what's the story of the pilot.

If you've seen the preview, you've seen all the ken has released. He's not said much more. NO ONE BLOODY KNOWS - anything other than the blurb that John Spinward owns a free trader is pure random speculation by people making shit up. The few I know who had a clue are dead. And they were under NDAs.

I was a backer and a script supervisor, so I have signed an NDA. That means I got to edit and make suggestions for the Spinward Traveller TV Pilot.

My job was to make sure it was as "Travelleresque" in it's references as possible. So no warp drives, etc.

I can tell you what is publicly available on the Kickstarter site under the heading "What is Spinward TRAVELLER's Premise":

"Jon Spinward is a prominent starship cargo broker, kidnapped by a crew of pirates. But making a living raiding other starships is a hard life, and Jon must navigate this group of rogues and misfits in hopes of turning them into a legitimate far-trader business. Together, this band of unlikely allies must dodge competing pirates, navigate labyrinthian Imperial procedures, and the dangers of the empire’s border sector. Once they do, then maybe Jon can turn a profit and finally get a passage ticket back home.

Or maybe he might discover something more important than money out there in the frontier."

I'd certainly change the name of the main character.

At best, you might have gotten away with Captain Jonathan "Spin" Ward.

His android assistant, Cynthia, and Aslan security officer, Claude.

I have less trouble with the name, but doubling it up as the POV character's name AND the sector everything is set in is needless. Something like naming a protagonist West for a story set in the West Side of a city named Weston.

Well, it sounds and looks like it's meant for teenagers and younger. Hence the name and story.

Neat.
