A collection of tips and tricks for doing nifty stuff on COTI forums

To use images on COTI you need to upload them to the gallery, or as an attachment. Not all users can attach files, so here's how to use them on COTI.

0. Have an image on your hard driveThe usual rules apply. You must either own the image, it must be a fair use of Traveller materials, or you must have explicit permission to upload it from the owner. You also need to be able to find it on your computer
1. Go to Imperial Museum of Art This can be found on the top menu, under COTI Features
if doing this while editing a post, do it in a new tab or new window. You might want to do so anyway, so you can go back and forth.
2. Click Upload This is found in the Gallery Navigation bar, on the second row.
3. Select category This is found in the popup menu that appears..
4. Choose File click on the Choose File button, navigate on your machine to select the file, and hit OK or Upload, as appears.
5. Fill in Data Give the image a title, and if desired, fill in some information about it. If it isn't yours, please list where it is from (Book and page if a Traveller publication).
6. Upload click on the Upload button at the bottom of the page.
7. Copy the URL of the image
Small images (under 500x500 pixels)
right-click on the image in the lower part of the screen, and select Copy image location or Copy image URL
big images
right-click on the small thumbnail version of the image in the upper part of the screen, and select Copy image location or Copy image URL
8. go create your post We'll presume you know how to do that.
9. Add the Image tag In your post, add: 
[img][/img]
where you want to put the image.
Put your cursor between the 
[img][/img]
tags, and paste the URL you copied earlier.
if the URL shows the chunk 
/small/
you can replace it with 
/medium/
for a larger thumbnail image
10. add a link (optional) In your post, add: 
[url=]
before the 
[img]
tag.
in another tab or window, go back to the image's page, and copy it's URL
put the cursor after the 
=
and past the url.
put 
[/url]
after the 
[/img]
tag.
