Abbreviations on this Forum

I have noticed that there is a Plethora of abbreviations on this Forum... Some I can figure out myself based on how they are used within the Thread...

Others, ...

At the suggestion of Nobleman mike wightman, I am asking for an established place where others such as myself could refer to find out just what the abbreviation means.

As provided to me by His lordship wightman:

CT ~ Classic Traveller
HG1 ~ High Guard 1st Edition
HG2 ~ High Guard 2nd Edition
LBB ~ Little Black Book, usually followed by a number
MT ~ MegaTraveller
OTU ~ Official Traveller Universe
5FW ~ Fifth Frontier War, as a historical event
FFW ~ the Boardgame for the above

Spatial thanks to His Lordship wightman for suggesting this posting.

Sto lat'

Riik

Riik, could you please perhaps add the abbreviations to your first post, as they show up, alphabetically?

Here's what I have, so far. Consolidated into categories.

Beat me up if you want for what's included.

Thanks to all who have contributed to this Thread.

Especially to Citizen dean for establishing this list in a format I probably wouldn't have been able to complete in the short time that he has.

Bravo Zulu, Citizen dean!

Alot of copy-and-paste off of FFE's website of the product lines listed, with additional commentary as I have seen used here on the boards. Might be useful to alphabetize as well, but I didn't have time for that. Good suggestion on your part.

First I've ever seen of these. Goal is cataloging what's in use, not making new stuff up.

MgT (Mongoose Traveller) also occasionally appears in older posts and in posts by me as RTT (Rikki Tikki Traveller, an indirect non-derisive reference to Mongoose via Rudyard Kipling).

Regarding TARFU, SNAFU, and FUBAR, the entire FU-sequence that I learned, in order of increasing FU-tility ( :) ):

SNAFU - Situation Normal All [Fornicated] Up
BOMFU - Beginning Of Major [Fornicate] Up
TARFU - Things Are Really [Fornicated] Up
GATFU - Getting/Gotten All Together [Fornicated] Up
FUBAR - [Fornicated] Up Beyond All Recognition

As this thread concerns abbreviations, what does SRD mean when referred to in the context of Mongoose Traveller?

Hmmmmm ... Dean's categories are useful if you're looking for an abbreviation to USE; but if you're looking to decode somebody else's abbreviation, you may not know which category to look in.

I think there is probably a need for a strictly alphabetical listing as well.

Oh dear ... have I just inadvertently volunteered for something??

Methinks that you just did.
