After the Collapse of the last Superpower a league of Grate Powers (all Economically Developed Liberal Democracies) would arise, finishing the cleaning up the Ecological and Economic Mess of the 20th Century (as best they could, the work continues) the League would form their own Space Agency to allow the Nation States to regain control of the Solar System from Private Industry and Finance and their "Resource Exploitation Corporations".
Building on the technology of the Third Space Race a European Scientist who in his youth had worked for NASA before the American Collapse was able to prefect both Gravity Modification and "Acceleration Drive" technologies, being at the end of his life he gifted the patient to the League who would use their control of the technologies to deal near mortal wounds to the shadow empires of the remaining Plutocrats freeing much of the solar system from their control. Once free of Solar Gravity the Acceleration Drive would prove a viable method of FTL Travel.
Today the League and their Space Agency still curtails the Plutocrats on Earth and in the Sol System wile it also conducts peaceful Exploration, Servery and Scientific expeditions in distant star systems paving the way for league colonization efforts, further wile sneaking out intelligent alien life (that they are yet to find) to conduct mutually beneficial Cultural, Scientific and Economic exchanges with.
I plan to use a modified Classic or Mega Travller engine, so the tables will remain the same. the Stats will remain the same but Soc will incited become "Social Aptitude" and reflect E.Q. Charisma and Leadership qualities. Instead of Services there will instead be the various branches of the LSA, these will be Flight, Mission Specialist, (C&C) Engendering & Geo Sciences, Ship Crew, Bio & Eco Sciences and Security & Intelligence
