P.24 Low Passage rule (typo?)

Shonner

SOC-14 1K
It says roll 9- when being revived from low berth. But the modifiers are adding the reverse of what good things should add.

Are you guys rolling for 9+ instead? Or are you reversing the polarity of the DMs to get the rule to make sense?

Looks like it's repeated again on p.115.

Since the task system for T4 is "roll under", just flip the DMs. T4 was done in a big bloody hurry, so mistakes like this are inevitable.

This rule, plus the reference to intrinsic dangers, seems to be a holdover from the old perspective of coldsleep from the time of the original writing. When you think about how it's depicted today in the media, and the first ones that spring to mind are here of Aliens, Event Horizon and Prometheus, it's a far more straightforward operation. I still always throw in a TL modifier, so that revival in a TL 9 unit can be challenging, but in a TL15 unit is pretty straightforward.

Absolutely. The brutal survival numbers for Low Berth travel come from the Dumarest books, which are pretty bleak and nasty all things considered.

It is easier to provide such a rule and have players ignore it than to have perfect survival that needs to be house ruled to keep PCs from icing everywhere.
