This is the official thread for the T5.09 PDF release errata.

The attached document explains the process, but here's the gist: The Errata Review document is a summary of all items currently identified as potential errata in the T5.09 pdf.

Marc will review the PDF, bless most corrections and give answers to the omissions and review questions. Once he does that, the Official Errata will be posted.

But there's a need to make sure you know that:
a) reported issues were actually reported correctly
b) something you just found wasn't already reported

And it's actually easy to post the open issues list for everyone to reference. If you have issues with the unofficial document, please put those in the discussion thread, not this one.

CommPlus

Comm Plus

p.299 & p.352 & p.506 - All now list CommPlus as TL15, but p.502 on the TL Table still lists it as TL13.

Corsair

Corsair
p.321 - The text lists the Corsair as "Corsair (P-DA42)" (which matches the text description), but the caption on the picture is "Corsair (P-GA42)".

Illustration/Caption mis-match

p.737 - The text description of the scene does not match either the ship or scene pictured.

Table B - Armor Layers - Charged Armor

p.293 - Table B - Armor Layers
Charged Armor should be listed as "=TLx2", not "=TLx"

Ship's Power Sources / Auxiliary Power

Ship's Power Sources / Auxiliary Power

There seems tobe a discrepancy in the length of duration of various power systems when disconnected from the Main Power Plant. See underlined/italicized text below.

p.279

Centralized Power.
The ship’s primary power source supplies all power to the operating mechanisms of the ship. Individual mechanisms or areas have short-term emergency power backups (= ship TL in minutes).Normal operations are powered from the Power Plant. If the Power Plant is damaged, disabled, or destroyed, individual mechanisms switch to emergency power and can continue in operation for a short period of time.

Decentralized Power.
The ship’s primary power source supports its interplanetary and interstellar drives. Individual mechanisms (sensors, most weapons, control consoles) are self-powered and independent of the central power source.
Power Cells. Although individual mechanisms are routinely connected to the Power Plant, they are supported by Power Cells (compact high capacity power storage cells) as an independent power source. Individual components can operate for hours (= ship TL in hours) after disconnection from the central power supply.

Fusion Plus. The individual ship mechanisms are self-powered by Fusion Plus (compact cold fusion modules) as their independent power source. Individual components can continue to operate indefinitely (= ship TL in months) without a central power supply.

Compare the above underlined/italicized text concerning both Power Cells and Centralized Power Back-ups to the descriptions below:

p.348
Centralized Or Dispersed
A ship power system may have a single source of energy, or the sources may be distributed throughout the ship.

Dispersed. The power system supports its interplanetary and interstellar drives. Individual mechanisms are self-powered(with FusionPlus or Power Cells) and independent of a central power source.
Fusion Plus. Ships may use Fusion Plus (compact cold fusion modules) as the independent power source. Individual components can continue to operate indefinitely (months) without a central power supply.

Power Cells. Ships may use Power Cells (compact high capacity power storage cells; batteries) as the independent power source. Individual components can operate for (1D) days after disconnection from the central power supply.
Centralized. A power system which supplies all power to the operating mechanisms of the ship. Individual mechanisms or areas have short-term emergency power backups (1D hours).

Now compare the underlined/italicized text in both of the above to the text below concerning both Power Cells and FusionPlus:

p.349

POWER CELLS
The ship has an array of units which store usable energy. Power cells are dependent on an energy source to provide the energy that they store and release. Power cells are batteries: they store energy; they do not produce it. An operating Power Plant can charge multiple Power Cells in about a day.
Routine Energy Use. A charged Power Cell can support the operation of its assigned device for two weeks.

Operations. Power Cells are suitable for routine use of non-energy-intensive devices. In practice, they support Consoles, Computers, and Sensors. They are not suitable for Drives, Weapons, or Defenses.

FUEL CELLS
The ship has an array of units which convert a source fuel into usable energy.
Fuel. Fuel cells consume hydrogen and oxygen to produce electric current. Hydrogen can be obtained from standard starship fuel, or skimmed from gas giants. Oxygen can be obtained from any world with Atmosphere 2-9. Refined or unrefined status is inconsequential for Fuel Cell fuel. A single fuel cell requires one ton of fuel to support 10 weeks of operations for a Compartment.

Routine Energy Use. A charged Fuel Cell can support the operation of its assigned device for ten weeks.

Operations. Fuel Cells, like Power Cells, are suitable for routine use of non-energy-intensive devices. In practice, they support Consoles, Computers, and Sensors. They are not suitable for Drives, Weapons, or Defenses.

FUSION PLUS UNITS
The power plant uses a cold fusion process to produce usable energy.
Fuel. Highly efficient Fusion Plus units electrolyze water to produce hydrogen and waste oxygen.

Routine Energy Use. A charged FusionPlus can support the operation of its assigned devices for about a year.

Fuel Consumption. A small (several liter) water tank is filled with potable water as necessary.

Stubs

p. 260 - Table 12 - Enhancers

Under More Options there is an entry for grav/lifter only "Stubs" however there is no description of what this option does in the text and there are no modifications listed to any characteristic except price +20KCr.

Smallcraft

p.265 Smallcraft

The Notes at the bottom of this table are duplicated from the Flyers Table below. They should be deleted.

Crew Structure

p. 284 Illustration: Typical Naval Crew Structure

The Table of organization lists two ranks: M1 and M2

The key at the side of the table lists R4 Petty Officer First [Class]

M1 and M2 should be replaced with R4.

quoting myself...

I am currently trying to implement a T5 vehicle maker based on the 5.09 PDF and I am encountering issues:

p. 258, Ground Vehicles Motive:
Is there a reason that civilian vehicles can't be legged?

p. 258, Military Vehicles Mission:
I am missing a (blank) option to create just a tank (and not a weapon/troop/supply/recon tank).

p. 259, Watercraft Type:
The Grav option should be listed under Motive not under Type.

Starship Payload

p. 307 - Life Support

Medical. Every ship requires a Medical Console. Each Medic in crew requires a Clinic.

Is this perhaps overkill? Could Clinics not be staffed in watches like Consoles? At 2tons its a sizable volume and if more than one Medic is carried the volume will soon start to add up.

Suggested fix: One Clinic is required per three Medics who can staff it in shifts/watches.

Starship Payload

p. 307 Fitted Payload

Specialized tonnage (routinely occupied or used by crew for mission purposes) for costs MCr0.1 per ton.

The old table SPECIALIZED PAYLOAD TONNAGE has been removed, so now there are no examples of cargo handling equipment or special cargo holds like Vaults or Magazines.

Importantly there are no examples of Standard Shipping Containers.

Suggested fix: include descriptions in the Equipment Chapter.

The Jump Process

p. 339 Unplanned Outcomes

There is a note at the bottom of this table that says "*technically =Safe Jump Distance.". There's no * on the table and I can't see what it refers to.

Suggested fix: delete it.

Page 59, table A Scout Career, Citizen Life should be Risk & Reward.

Page 65, table A Noble Career, Risk & Reward C5 has two asterisk but no note associated.

page 40, C Education, Apprenticeship, To Apply Check: auto* but there is no note associated that I can find.

Page 4 stray text at top eg referring to T4

Page 17 "a a" in The Third Imperium para 2

Page 33 Eneri's Long Day "2700" needs "(0300 the next day)" added to be consistent with rest of page

Page 37 eHex needs a reference to appropriate Appendix as used for first time here.

pages 52 + 53 Stray Index Text at bottom of page should probably be hidden text

page 56
- missing "to" in Scholar Position and Promotion "Promotion is possible only those with Edu 8+."
- do the waivers in the Education process count at this point?
- "Comment" in part A is confusing, better to just have the explanation of the asterisks. also not consistent with other pages
- "Ptrofessor" in Table of Scholar Ranks
- Higher up in page it says if no Major/Minor to select any skill as Major/Minor so there will always be a Major/Minor therefore no need for single asterisk in Skill table for this page only

Page 59 "bith" instead of "both"

Page 65 ** not explained in Risk & Reward Line of Table A

page 71
- Expressing Fame, second sentence cut off.
- multipliers out of alignment in Fame table

page 176 Page needs a title since it is the first page of Combat and could be confused with the Senses pages preceding it

page 178 "whcih" in The Combat Process opening para

Page 216 - 04 Gunmaker; Machinepistol has a range of =3, while Submachinegun has a range of =2. It seems as though the two should be reversed.

Page 217 - 05 Gunmaker; Many Descriptors have a numeral only as R= and D2; should this be "+" the numeral?
Body, Snub, and Vheavy have "*" 1,2 or 5 as R=; what does the "*" mean.
Medium has a Comment "NOT PISTOLS." ; no medium pistols?
D3 appears to have cost multipliers in its column.

Page 218 - 06 Gunmaker; CQ symbols seem to be reversed and "Recoilless" and Projector have no CQ rating at all.
"Gas" and "Tranq" are listed under Descriptors but are not found as such on previous pages.
The entire "open circle, filled circle, star" designation method needs standardizing; sometimes a filled circle indicates a positive while other times a negative.
The legend for "Heat" and "Vacc" are serously messed up.
Designator given as "AF AT Missile"

Page 219 - 07 Gunmaker; example at the bottom of the page does not match up to codes.
qrebs Burden modifiers seem reversed.

Page 220 - 08 Gunmaker; Machinegun only allowed "off" and "optional burst" controls. Designator allowed "full" but no "single"? Acid only has power mode, no single or full. Anti-Flyer only has "single" mode?

Et all; An explanation of what unspecified damage numbers, as found in the D1 column of "Catagories and Types", or the D2 column of "Burden", and "Stage" tables would be very helpful. The "Catagories and Types" table mentions, "Hit type determined by other details of the weapon" but there is no explanation beyond this; does an Anti-Flyer Cannon add 4 to the "Frag" or "Blast" damage?

EXOTIC DRIVES

EXOTIC DRIVES (p.362)

On the chart on page 362, there are 3 columns for Exotic Drives: R, A, I. Though there is no performance data listed for these (perhaps that is intentional), there is also apparently no clear notation anywhere in the section identifying what they are. (Note: The table on p.494 makes it clear that R=Reality & I=Inertialess).

The Ultra-Tech Level descriptions on p.509 list the descriptions for I-Type Drives and R-Type Drives:

Inertialess Maneuver 25. The ability to eliminate inertia in spacecraft. Inertialess ships are unrestricted by velocity vectors and achieve very high speeds nearly instantaneously. When inertialessness is turned off, the ship reverts to its previous state of inertia.

Reality Drive 28. Drives capable of reaching almost any destination with a minimum of cost and time.
but there is apparently no hint anywhere as to what an A-Type Drive is.
