T5 Errata Thread

Collectors

The Maximum Drive Potential Table on p.338 shows a Potential-1 Collector as available at TL14 (with increasing Collector-Potential listed for increasing TLs, of course).

However, on the Tech Level Charts on p. 504, Collector Technology is listed as a TL18 development.

My intuition (based on several other puzzling discrepancies on the TL Chart) is that it is the TL Chart that is in error, not the Drive Potential Table in the Starship Construction section.

CommPlus & Meson Communicators

On p.504 of the T5 Core rules, CommPlus is listed as TL-13 in the TL Charts.
On p.508 of the T5 Core rules, CommPlus is listed as TL-17 in the TL Charts.
On p.607 of the T5 Core rules, CommPlus is listed as TL-13 in the TL Chart located on that page.

In the Sensors Table on p.341 CommPlus is listed as TL17 (as well as in the text & table on pp.383 & 384-385, respectively).

On p.397 under Meson Screens/Effect, CommPlus is identified as a Meson Communicator.
On p.382, under "CommPlus", it is said to use primarily neutrinos.

Hop Drive

On p.321 the Hop Drive is said to have a base TL of 18. All of the other charts, IIRC, imply a base TL of 17.

In the BeastMaker rules:

Table 7 (weapons) on page 581, does not match the Weapons column on the Body Features (Table B) on page 582.

Specifically, the Body Features table (Table B) is missing quills, antlers, and horns. The implication of the text is if there are no other weapons, the animal can use peds/feet and/or their body as a weapon.

None of the rules reference table 7 except in passing. There is no space on the Animal encounter chart to record the weapon (other than comments, but that seems to be an odd omission).

Hooves seems an odd addition to the Table B, as there is no explanation of the difference between a ped/foot and a hoof.

Finally, Table B is missing two entries (-6 and -5).

Pg 18 & 19 of PDF only - BBB is fine...

Pg 18
in the middle of the section -> Communication Limited To Transportation Speed

"literallycarried" needs a space in between.

Pg 19
end of first paragraph in -> Social Science adds Character and Flavor

"the many people to be encoun-
teredd in Traveller."

double 'd' in encountered

Pg 363 - in both PDF and BBB
in the Gravity-Based Maneuver Drives section

"the word may refere to a specific" - one too many 'e's

:)

Unrefined fuel - no penalties for use in T5

Unrefined Fuel:

It definitely is not in the BBB related to jump (used PDF search on unrefined).

The only section that refers to the consequences of unrefined fuel is for fuel cells on page 378 "Refined or unrefined status is inconsequential for Fuel Cell fuel."

I would say that it should refer to the issue of unrefined for Fusion Plants on page 377 under related to Fusion Overclock and cross referenced to pg 372 Initiating the Jump.

In the Sophont Creation System, Step 08 (Genders), Part C (Gender Assignment) on page 552, the assignment "by Family" and "by individual" options are never explained.

I bet this has already been reported, but just in case...

Page. 59. The UPP Table at the bottom of the page. The Analog descriptors are off by a column. For example, Agility and Grace are under Strength, when they should be under Dexterity. The same goes for all the analogs.

This, too, if it hasn't already been brought up.

On page 63, I'm guessing that a Viscount is indicated by Soc e, with a lower case "e", while a Count is Soc E, with an upper case "E".

That's the case with the Baronet/Baron, and the two versions of Duke. But, in each of those, the lower case is spelled out, where as with the Viscount/Count, it is not.

Page 66. Holding Breath.

If we go to the 15 second combat round in T5, this will need to be changed to a check per minute rather than a check per combat round.

It might be a good idea to go over these two pages for references to combat rounds like this.

Again, this may be old news, but in case it has not been yet reported...

Page 254, GunMaker.

Are the Special Effects mandatory or optional?

If mandatory, then every revolver and every shotgun are designated as Loud, which means they all should do Bang damage. Obviously, the example weapons in the book do not all have that damage type.

Also page 254. This doesn't make sense.

Bang damage delivers the damage at the target, not the firing end of the weapon. We know this because Bang damage is not applied to the firing character.

Yet, page 254 says that a silencer will silence Bang-1 weapons?

If there is no Bang damage applied to the shooter, then there's nothing to silence. And, a silencer is not going to effect the noise a round makes when it hits the target.

Also, what's the range of Bang damage? If someone is standing right next to the target, does he get Bang damage, too?

I'm reading two separate issues here.

Does the weapon do bang damage? Look under the damage effects for the weapon.

Can the weapon be heard easily, giving away location and removing surprise? Check how loud the weapon is.
